Rahul Gandhi Announces Bharat Nyay Yatra 2026 Covering Northern States
The Congress leader will walk through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh over 45 days, focusing on unemployment among youth and agrarian distress.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced a 45-day padayatra (foot march) through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh beginning August 15, framed as a continuation of his Bharat Jodo political engagement methodology with a specific focus on youth unemployment and agricultural debt.
The march, titled "Bharat Nyay Yatra," will cover approximately 3,500 kilometres and include structured meetings with farmers, contract workers, migrant labourers, and women self-help group members in small towns and villages outside state capitals.
Congress strategists see the yatra as both an organisational and media tool: previous marches have activated party cadres in regions where Congress has become organisationally weak and generated continuous news coverage that keeps opposition messaging in the public discourse.
"We are walking with India because India's governments are not walking with its people," Gandhi said in an address to party workers announcing the yatra. He cited National Sample Survey Office data showing the youth unemployment rate at 18.7 per cent as the central motivation.
