Adani Green Commissions Asia's Largest Hybrid Renewable Park in Rajasthan
The 5,000 MW combined solar-wind facility at Khavda will supply power to seven states under long-term purchase agreements, transforming India's renewable energy mix.
Adani Green Energy has commissioned the first 2,500 MW phase of its hybrid renewable energy facility at Khavda in Gujarat's Kutch district — the largest single-site renewable energy installation in Asia — delivering electricity under 25-year power purchase agreements with seven state distribution companies.
The Khavda park, which will eventually span 538 square kilometres and host 30,000 MW of combined solar and wind capacity, uses an AI-driven energy management system to optimise the complementary generation profiles of solar and wind, reducing intermittency and increasing the facility's effective capacity utilisation from the typical 22-25 per cent for standalone solar to 38-42 per cent.
The facility's grid integration involved constructing 900 kilometres of transmission infrastructure, a project that Adani Transmission undertook in parallel with the generation park. The transmission investment underscores a broader point about India's renewable energy buildout: generation capacity has grown faster than the grid infrastructure needed to deliver it to demand centres.
Adani Green is targeting 50,000 MW of operational renewable capacity by 2030. The company's ₹3.5 lakh crore capital expenditure plan over five years represents the largest private infrastructure commitment in Indian corporate history.
