India Claim Test Series Against England 3-1 at The Oval
Yashasvi Jaiswal's twin centuries and Jasprit Bumrah's 14 wickets in the final Test sealed India's most convincing series win in England in four decades.
India sealed a 3-1 Test series victory over England at The Oval with a decisive innings win, completing a result that gave the touring side their most comprehensive series victory on English soil since 1986 and strengthening their lead at the top of the World Test Championship standings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was the series' dominant figure, scoring 613 runs at an average of 87.57 including two centuries at Headingley and The Oval. The 24-year-old left-hander's footwork against English swing and pace drew comparisons to Sunil Gavaskar's 1979 England tour — the last time an Indian opener matched this consistency across varied English conditions.
Jasprit Bumrah's 14 wickets in the final Test — 7-38 in England's first innings — defied a surface that offered him less assistance than expected and showcased his ability to generate results through skill alone. His series haul of 34 wickets at 14.2 established him as the first Indian quick to take over 30 wickets in an England series.
The result positions India as strong favourites for the World Test Championship final in June 2027. Their opponents will be determined by results over the next twelve months, but Australia, South Africa, and England remain the likeliest challengers.
